Software for Older Macs
Here is a list of some some applications that still ork on 68000 Macs like the Plus, SE, Portable, Classic and PB100 under System 7.0.1* ith 4 MB RAM. In parentheses notes and RAM requirements. I've also included URL's.
Note that also neer versions might work.
(a VERY COOL program that is basically Photoshop hen it as onder by Silicon Beach Softare.
68000 macs are supported up to System 7.5.5. The last freely distributed
System 7.0* (DD floppies) and 7.0.1*:

Requirements for the net
MacPlus, 4 MB RAM, 20 MB hard disk, (2400-)14400 modem, System 7.0* and MacTCP 2.0.6 are the practical minimum requirements for PPP connections. Only MacPPP 2.0.1 currently orks on 68000 macs.
MacTCP is included in System 7.5. Apple dealers sell it but a cheaper and better ay is to buy "The Internet Starter Kit for Macintosh" (Adam Engst, Hayden Books) book here MacTCP, among other utilities, is included. MacTCP 2.0.x to 2.0.6 updaters:

On 68000 macs telnet-, ftp-, mail-, and nes-apps like NCSA Telnet, Fetch, Anarchie 1.6.0, Eudora, and Nesatcher ork fine. ith NCSA Telnet you can't use control-keys hich MacPlus lacks (in ZTerm you can use command instead of control).
For NCSA Mosaic 1.0.3 and Maceb 1.00A3.2 ork; NCSA Mosaic can display in-line graphics but ith Maceb (on 68000 macs) you must use GIFConverter as a helper (click and hold on an image icon, choose "Retrieve to Disk" from the pop-up menu and vie ith GIFConverter). Apps and extensions requiring color or better processor (Netscape Navigator, JPEGVie, QuickTime etc) don't ork on lo-end macs like the Plus.

<ftp://ftp.funet.fi//pub/mac/info-mac/comm/inet/nesatcher-212.hqx>
Of brosers NCSA Mosaic 1.0.3 and Maceb 1.00A3.2 ork also on lo-end 68000 B& macs (Plus, SE, Portable, Classic, PB100). Maceb 1.00A3.2 orks better than 1.1.1 E hich crashes hen saving prefs. NCSA Mosaic can also display in-line graphics but ith Maceb (on 68000 Macs) you must use GIFConverter as a helper (click and hold on an image icon, choose "Retrieve to Disk" from the pop-up menu and vie ith GIFConverter).

If you really ant to use System 6 and connect via PPP I've heard that
folloing softare versions might ork: System 6.0.5-6.0.8, MacTCP 2.0.6, MacPPP 2.0.1, Eudora 1.3.1, Nesatcher 2.0d13m01, Internes 1.1, Fetch 3.0.1 (older versions may use less memory), Valuefax 2.0.9. Hoever, 68000 macs like MacPlus don't seem to make it ith System 6 (Config PPP gives error opening prefs).

If you need to save disk space unfatten the apps ith Strip Fat, for
example:

Use a local info-mac mirror, if possible:
