Rick,
Strangely enough, I was just reading about that device! It's described in vivid detail in "Build Your Own Macintosh And Save A Bundle", by Bob Brant. I just got it out of the library in town.
I quote: (some superfluous text removed for clarity)
"The Power R video driver cable is an interesting alternative. It works with the entire family of 128/512/Plus/SE logic boardsncluding the SE/30... The downside is that you are wasting the capability of the multisync monitor and limiting it to only 512 x 342 pixels, the same as the original Mac 9" screen. However, when used with the Princeton Max 15 monitor in its larger viewing option, it is my preferred choice... "I now use this video driver module and cable from Power R for most of my projects, and I wish I'd known of it earlier. ... The video cable
that comes with it plugs into the module and routes signals out to a 9-pin connector, so you can take care of your video needs and power connections to your logic board in one pass. Model 2702 fits a Mac 128/512/Plus logic board and Model 2703 fits an SE/SE30 logic board. Either model can be had for $100 or so. [1991 prices] It works right out of the box and comes with a one year warranty. You merely plug the module into the logic board power supply connector and plug your power supply cable into it...
"Frankly, I enjoy the optional larger screen image mode of the original Mac screen when used on my Princeton Max 15 monitor in conjunction with the Power R cable; you can really read it. The Power R video module also provides multisync-monitor or LCD-display compatible RGB outputs if you ever want to use (it) for business presentations; it produces excellent results."
Looks like you got a little gem! I'm jealous! :-)
Bob
Also, one of my pluses came with a strange cable sticking out of the security hole. I took her apart and found a card inside with this on it:
