I HAVE FOUND THAT THE PRODUCT CALLED "OOPS, THE ALL-PURPOSE
REMOVERtm, REMOVES PERMANENT MARKER FROM MACS !
HERE'S HOW I DID IT TO 4 COMPACTS:
1. Pre-clean the surfaces of your Compact Mac with either Clorox CleanupTM
or Westley'sTM Bleche Wite Automotive whitewall tire cleaner/bleach.
Work the area around the permanent marker extra-thoroughly. Make
sure to paper-towel dry each section as cleaned, so residue won't
accumulate.
2. Pour a small amount of OOPS onto a section of paper towel and rub
the markered area LIGHTLY. Change to a clean section of paper towel
frequently. Rub in ALL directions, back and forth, up and down, and
diagonally, for no less than 2 minutes. Also, rub the OOPS onto the
whole side of the Compact.
OOPSTM contains compounds which can slightly melt plastic.
The marker-cleaned area will be left slightly shiny. Rub OOPSTM
onto the whole side you're cleaning the marker from to blend
the shiny area into the rest of the surface.
3. The Artistic Touch: Finish by scrubbing the entire OOPSed side
with a Scrub Sponge designed for cleaning teflon-coated pans.
They have a safe rough surface. This effectively dulls the shiny
spots and blends the side's surface, hiding shiny areas. Again,
use the up-and-down, side-to-side, diagonal and circular motions
to best blend the shine away.
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY-ONLY PROCEDURE, BEST USED WHEN
ALL OTHER METHODS FAIL, AND WILL LEAVE BEHIND A
VERY SLIGHTLY SHINY AREA. IT IS INTENDED AS A CURATIVE
FOR PERMANENT MARKER, AS IT D-O-E-S REMOVE IT, BUT
ALSO LEAVES BEHIND, TO VARYING DEGREES, A SHINY AREA
DEPENDENT ON YOUR SKILLS AT SMOOTHING AND BLENDING
WITH THE SPONGE MENTIONED ABOVE.
