Many thanx to Stuart Bell for providing hints to solve an ethernet problem on my CC Mystic.

Perhaps this will be of some help to others.

My problem was that the LC 575 Logic Board has a Comm Slot which is the default connection for an ethernet card. When attempting to route my ethernet services through a LC PDS Slot Ethernet card, I would get an error message that the ethernet services were not available and e-net was bumped back to the LocalTalk (serial) port.

New with the OS 7.5.3 install there is an extension called 'Apple Ethernet LC' which patches the OS to reroute e-net through the LC PDS Slot when there is an on-board, default Comm Slot.

Using TOME VIEWER I pulled the extension off a network install version of OS 7.5.3 and dropped it into my CC Mystic OS 7.1 System Folder. NO LUCK :-(

I tried a custom install of the OS 7.5.3 upgrade on my on a CC Mystic OS 7.5, installing all e-net and networking options only (including the 'Apple Ethernet LC' file). Voila :-) OS 7.5 with the LC PDS patch.

I tried a fresh install of OS 7.5 with the LC PDS card installed and then applied the 7.5.3 upgrade--no customization. It found the card and installed only the necessary extensions. Everything worked just fine.

It appears to me that the e-net services were defaulted through the LC PDS Slot on the original Color Classic, LC, LCII, etc with no specialrequirements for software because the Logic Board offered no other options. The LC PDS Slot was it. When the Comm Slot was introduced, Apple supposed hat e-net add-ons would be through the Comm Slot only and that some users might want to use PDS e-net cards was an afterthought requiring a software patch.

Regardless, this workaround works :-)
